SCVOS Recognition

   Within the Santa Clara Valley Orchid Society (SCVOS), there are members who stand out for their exceptional understanding and expertise in orchid culture. These individuals, through their dedication and passion, have cultivated a deep knowledge of orchids and have become invaluable resources for our orchid community. One such member who exemplifies this commitment is Ed Nazzal.

   Ed has demonstrated not only a profound understanding of orchid cultivation but also a willingness to share this knowledge generously with others. His advice and guidance have helped numerous members improve their orchid-growing skills and achieve greater success with their orchid plants. Ed has been a member of SCVOS since 1985 and has been deeply involved in the society's activities. He has served as president, vice-president, and treasurer, along with contributing significantly to the sale and auction events for many years.

   Throughout his enjoyment of orchids, Ed's favorite orchid species have been Paphiopedilums and Phragmipediums, a passion that was evident whenever we visited his greenhouse. Since his early days growing orchids, Ed has fond memories of visiting many vendors yet truly enjoying Rod McClellan Orchids in South San Francisco. While he acquired many of his early plants there, one of his favorite places to visit and obtain orchids was Oahu, Hawaii, specifically the north shore.

   In recognition of Ed Nazzal's outstanding contributions to our society and his exemplary orchid culture knowledge, we award Ed Nazzal a lifetime Honorary Membership. He is a beacon of inspiration and a true asset to our society.
