  • Eligibility to Sell: Only SCVOS members in good standing on the day of the auction may sell orchids. If you're not currently a member but wish to participate as a seller, please join within one week before the auction. Note: memberships cannot be processed immediately before the auction solely for selling purposes.

​

  • Bidding: Everyone is welcome to bid! Feel free to bring friends and family to join in the fun.

​

  • Plant Condition: Only orchid plants in good health and free of pests will be accepted for auction. No other plant types will be permitted.

​

  • Plant Approval: The final decision on plant eligibility will be made by our two judge auctioneers. Any plants showing signs of pests, fungus, viruses, or other diseases will be excluded.

​

  • Settlements: SCVOS will retain 25% of the selling price, with 75% going to the seller. Payments will be settled at the end of the auction, not during the event.

​

  • Sales Tax: Buyers will be responsible for paying CA sales tax on their purchases.

​

  • Check-In: Buyers and sellers should check in at the Legion Hall, 1504 Minnesota Avenue, San Jose, between 6:30 and 7:00 PM. The auction will start promptly at 7:30 PM.

​

  • Buyer Number: Buyers will receive a Buyer Number upon check-in. Sellers should come prepared with completed plant tags and a master plant list.

​

  • Plant Limits: Each seller may auction up to 25 plants.

​

  • Tagging Requirements: Each plant must have a tag with the following information:

    • An identifying number composed of the seller's initials and a numerical code (e.g., AB-01)

    • Plant name (including parentage if known)

    • Minimum bid (clearly visible to the auctioneer)

    • Additional details such as flower color, cultural requirements (temperature, light), whether grown indoors or outdoors, virus testing status, etc.

  • Master List: Sellers must prepare a master list of their plants for sale, including their name, contact information, plant codes, etc., and leave a copy at the auction desk.

​
